I have a St. Croix Victory Medium Heavy 7’1” fast action (not the one in the picture) and I’m wondering if it can handle 1.5 -2oz lures?
I haven’t been able to test it on the water but when I tie a big lure on the tip doesn’t bend a crazy amount.

It says 3/8-7/8 on the rod…
Well its rated 3/8-7/8 so i would say no.
Can it do it? It will until it wont.
Doubling or more the rated capacity would he ill advised and i would be careful with warranty service after that.
Could it, probably. You’ll have a great time. Cast a few times and get confident in your decision, until one time trying to let it fly, your rod tip breaks. Then you shamefully reel it back in along with your confidence. You knew better but decided maybe that rod manufacturer wasn’t as smart as you.
