6x2x2 turtle tank, about 8 years old. never had such a big tank in my house before and it's really freaking me out, the shape of the legs is making me a bit concerned, and I'm a bit skeptical it can handle the weight. would appreciate some input from people who have large tanks like this one.

Absofreakinglutely not
No
I can appreciate repurposing wood for DIY stuff, but this stand is not built correctly to hold weight.
No
Take look at DIY aquarium stands, weight transfer to the floor is done through the whole perimeter, not just six narrow points, and there are additional vertical supports for horizontals. Furniture is not enough for medium-large tanks.
My largest tank was 475L, on DIY stand, lumber for it was precut at home improvement centre and assembly was done in the middle of the room. With waterproofing though, in a warm season.
The legs aren’t the problem it’s the runs between the legs
It could maybe work if the runs sat on top of the legs but with them just holding between like that the weight is transfered into the glue and screws
The feet, do weaken it it but it’s still solid wood and it might be enough for vertical loading depending on leg count
You are better off building your own stand out 2×4 or 2×6 than trying to make this work
No. 400 liters is roughly 100 gallons, and water weighs around 7 lbs per gallon, so when you add the weight of the tank and everything else you’re basically asking if we think this stand can handle 800 lbs of weight. I’m not confident of that. That’s so heavy that you even need to look at the floor underneath the tank, as it’s normally not recommended to have a tank that heavy unless you’re on a ground floor with a concrete slab underneath.
Nope!!
Nope
It’s a turtle tank not a fish tank. The stand wasn’t meant to hold the tank full of water, only a little.
