I was just fishing up at a local lake from the kayak trolling Berkley flicker shad #5 and some similar bomber cranks and they did well hooking up on some cutbows.
I believe these cranks are running somewhere between 8-12’ in the water and the trout currently are more shallow. I’ve heard that even if the trout are deeper than that (like 20ft) they will come up to strike?
But I was wondering about something slightly bigger like the rapala DT20 crank that dives down to 20ft so I can target the trout I’m marking deeper.
These deeper diving cranks are slightly bigger (2 3/4” vs 2”) and heavier, but I’m thinking they should still work fine?
Anyways just some food for thought since yesterday I enjoyed trolling the cranks due to the ease of trolling no need for extra weight, downrigger, etc.
TIA
