Hey everyone, idk why but the fish at this specific pond love this lure. Literally everytime I throw it they nibble the hell out of it, literally sometimes I pull it out and the little claws are bitten off.
My problem is 9 times out of ten, I don't get a solid bite. They nibble and pull at the claws and end up just pulling the lure down and ends up like this. Do I need a smaller hook? A different way to rig it? I usually just run it entirely through the hook to where the claws are just dragging behind.
Thanks in advance

Idk what you’re fishing but I’d be using a different style hook and probably smaller size as well. What is hitting it? Might be a better hook based on the fish
I would Texas rig it and push the end up over the eye of the hook. That will also stand it up a little making it present a little more realistic. If you bounce it and give it a few short swims mixed in between bounces they’ll absolutely crush that thing.
Looks like an L-Man Burrito Bug in Taco Bell Shart
Perfectly rigged already 👌
Oh to actually answer your question switch to an EWG and increase your hook wait time
You could always use a drop or two of crazy glue to keep the lure from falling down like that
Should be able to find a video on YouTube. Kinda hard to explain in text. You peirce a part of the top of the rig and put the in the top crook of the hook, then you pierce through the body so the jig lines up.
Seriously just YouTube texas rig
Also just realized your hook definitely isn’t the greatest for that plastic jig
2 things could be happening. Â
1. Wrong hook for the bait.
Take bait off and set it beside the hook and take a Pic. That way we can see if the hook/bait sizes match.
I think you need an extra wide gap hook (EWG) for a bait that thick so that when you get a bite the hook has enough room for the point to be exposed as the bait is pushed around the bend.
2. Small fish are nibbling. If a fish is too small to take the whole bait in their mouth, they can still grab and tug and pull on it. Feels like bites but won’t result in hook ups.
You sure you are not feeling the bottom making it feel like you are getting nibbles?
Looks like you’re just putting the plastic on wrong. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_rig](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_rig) You usually have to let them eat the texas rigs for a bit before you set the hook as well. if you think small fish are pulling on the end of the plastic you can downsize to a smaller jig (I really like my UL setup for this) to see what’s biting it
Sounds like small fish are after your bait and not the bass you are looking for.
It’s rigged on the hook wrong. It needs to look like [this](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_rig)
Have you ever caught a bass there? Bluegill can destroy soft plastics too.
