Caught using a Beaver Dam, 40lb tip up line to 20lb fluorocarbon leader with a 3/0 circle hook. Bait used was a bluegill with the tail fin cut off, 1/4 oz bullet weight to keep him from moving too much.
Such a thrill. Brought him up through a 6 inch hole, once I saw his head I didn't think I could get him up, but kept calm and played him through. Highly recommend circle hooks, it was right where it was supposed to be, corner of the mouth, not a drop of blood and easy to remove.
Totally hooked on tip up action now!
Side bonus is the boys and I made a soccer field by shoveling off the snow, 40 degrees and we had a blast, no gloves needed.

Nice fish, and even more impressive to get it through a 6” hole.
