I was thinking of just taking the rod tip off and attaching it on to the end, would this work? Is there any alternatives?

  1. That would work, or you could buy a rod tip replacement kit, either way your rod will be shorter and feeling different. It will still work but you’ll have to adapt.

You can try it, but it will be a shorter, stiffer rid with different action. Might need a new tip guide if it doesn’t fit. I have been known to make ice fishing rods from broken off ends as well, but this one is probably a bit short for that.

  3. If it is a hollow rod, there are kits made with different size solid carbon fiber rods, about 4” long, and epoxy. You coat the short piece with epoxy and use it as a brace inside of the two broken pieces, half way inserted in each piece, to repair the break. The rod will be stiffer than before, but you will preserve the length. Depends on the rod , if it’s cheap … just re tip it, if it’s gloomis or a brand w warranty.. send it in .
