I bought an entire second tank on a whim, because I saw this gorgeous boy in a cup and found it criminal that he was subjected to those awful conditions.

I only got him to eat after a week of him coming home by managing to perfectly aim pellets down to where he was swimming. Once he learned that they were delicious, he started hunting the ground for any that he missed that I didn't clean up yet.

Anyways, this is Andrew, my betta who will not respond to any surface water disturbances and will only eat food once it sunk to the floor of his tank.

  1. I’ve had two bettas like that over the years: prefer to eat from the bottom.
If you want to try getting him to eat at the surface hold a pellet in tweezers jus below the water and swirl it about, that may activate hunting instinct, and he should hopefully smell the pellet after a minute of not sooner and start looking for it.

    He’s a lovely looking boy.
