I’d get real plants. That would be my emergency plan. Plastic ones hurt their fins and even cut them.

Artificial plants can look very colorful, but they may have sharp edges that could harm your betta. Live plants are a gentler option they help improve your betta’s health, absorb harmful nutrients and chemicals, and help keep the water more stable.

I think adding some red root floaters or some other type of floating plant would look nice if you cannot make any big changes!  🙂

  4. Biggest suggestion would be replacing your fake plants! Live plants are best for betta fish but if that’s not possible you could also switch to silk plants because those ones won’t cut their fins on accident! Similarly, you should also make sure the edges of your decorations are smoothed down! I also like that you have a betta ring and your filter setup looks good!

  5. It’s really cool visually, all your colors and placement look awesome. That said, I also agree with everyone about swapping out the fake plants for real ones. Aside from the injury concern and the pros of real plants for water quality, think about it from the Betta’s perspective, he’d much rather explore and swim through real plants than fake ones. You want to mimic his ecosystem as closely as possible. You can start with a couple other real ones, proper lighting (you need spectrum lights) and some fertilizer, and gradually remove move fake plants as the real ones get bigger. Even that plastic one on the wall can he easily replaced with a real anubias. He has really long fins, those can get caught and torn so easily. He really can’t explore or hide anywhere in there safely. Also, I cant tell if you have a heater or not, but if not, get one that that you can set and also get a thermometer so you can keep track of the temp. Do you already know about tank cycling and testing the water?

Everyone is saying live plants but I will say it too cuz it really is the only thing you have left to upgrade! Live plants are just so amazing for water quality and mental enrichment, you won’t regret getting more!

Anubias, java moss, and water sprite are wonderful and easy beginner plants you should check out :]

If you want some more things, maybe check out adding tannins to your tank via catappa leaves (they’re very cheap on amazon) and trying out live or frozen foods (frozen bloodworms are a big hit with most bettas).

  7. Id remove the circular statue in the center the betta could try and squeeze themselves through the smaller circles and get stuck. Theres been plenty of horror stories on here of people having to break apart decor for a wedged betta
