Betta Fish: My betta in his 5 gallon

This is my male crown tail Bella in his Fluval 5 gallon. I’ve had this tank for YEARS and couldn’t bring myself to rescape it after my previous betta got dropsy and died. I threw out everything except the plants and the filter and here it is now. I’ve had Bella for about 6 months now, added that mystery snail and banana plant about 2 months ago and the Java ferns yesterday. Their placement is temporary I’m buying some hardscape stuff soon. No c02 that’s just a little airstone cause he seems to like it. I dose liquid fert every week or so. That sponge filter on the side is not connected and for a separate project
