I developed a fishing app called FishCastPro, and genuinely can't tell if people hate the "AI-powered" label these days or if it matters that we actually need it.
The app learns from catch data (Species/size/location – in mere seconds), cross-references weather/tide/moon/marine conditions, and figures out which combinations produce good fishing. Then it personalizes predictions based on your own catch history.
It run inhouse (not web connected) and is capable of processing thousands of catch records and forecasts and is genuinely the engine of the app. Further to that the chat feature allows fish ID, weather, your historic data, tides, local conditions, fishing gear or techniques, regulations and even recipies! How many websites or programs would have to be incorporated to get the same result?
A human couldn't manually process all those weather patterns and location variables. The algorithms are genuinely complex – it's not something you could do with basic weather lookups, spreadsheets, notepad, or even a non AI powered app.
I know "AI" is controversial. Does it matter that the app literally couldn't work without it? Or does the AI label make you skeptical regardless?
Honest thoughts appreciated.

It will only be as good as the data and will take a long time to gather that data. That is where my skepticism would come from regardless of AI or not.
I mean I don’t see the need but also claiming that something similar is Impossible without ai is hilarious
If i see anything AI im immediately uninterested. Do with that information as you please
AI in general is a turnoff for me. Old heads and pros alike have been fishing just fine even before the days of livescope and AI.
Why muddy the water with what’s effectively a glorified google search?
AI anywhere is a turnoff. Clanker slop just tells me that the company couldn’t be bothered or is too cheap to pay a human.
If it works, great! If it sends me to a spot with no fish, I’m deleting that shit.
I saw this as a news thumbnail on google

I don’t feel the need for a fishing app, AI or otherwise. I’m there to relax, not to be a slave to updating my phone.
Major turnoff
