Extreme winds caused a crack in the ice to expand. An ice bridge had been put in for safe passage over the crack, but this truck missed the bridge.
The front tire went in, initially. Occupants walked back to shore to seek help with pulling it out. When they got back, they found the cab of the truck under.
No one was injured.
I believe two other trucks went in through the same crack several miles to the south.
This crack is about .25 miles from shore.

I have never seen someone put a bridge over an ice crack and then be crazy enough to drive over it. I guess it could be safe enough if the ice is thick, but I’d be watching 5 trucks go over it before I’d ever try it. Wild. Is that normal in your area?
I’m still seeing <10″ of ice on the lakes around me so no one is driving on yet with trucks.
