My granddad passed away and he left me a few rods. This is the only rod I've never seen before and have NO clue what I'd use it for.
It's thick line- I'm predominantly a squid fisher. I don't have much interest in fish fishing. With the exception of deep sea, which I don't do often.
The line looks old and will more than likely change it for something a bit smaller,. For information sake, I ran it how I think it's supposed to run.
I've tried to practice cast it but the line doesn't slack. Well, I don't know how to slack it. If someone can give me some information on how it's used that would be amazing.

That’s a conventional reel of some kind, I’m not good with old reel brands.
But with that top and the thick line, it’s set up for deep sea trolling for big fish.
