I spent 4 hours there today, 2 took the dry fly, but neither hooked. 1 looked like it's circumference was 1.5 times it's length. For me it was a surreal experience, i would have loved to catch a PB, but it's also extremely boring water to fish and just feels wrong.

This is where the official world record brown trout was caught.

Fishing the Mackenzie Country fish is weird. I get the fish are huge, but in a lot of ways it feels like fishing a giant hatchery raceway.

The fish themselves meet the defintion of wild (self-sustaining population that doesnt need stocking or feeding) but the environment is so constructed it just feels weird.

If catching the world’s largest trout requires walking those canals I personally am not going to be bothered, especially when there is so much interesting (and for me better) fishing in the area.

But at least the view is amazing
