Just found a bunch of these in one of my bettas tanks. The only live plants are whatever duckweed hasn’t died off yet which is only a few pieces (about 5) and a small piece of Mopani wood. I’ve been needing to get live plants and a sponge filter for him for a while, I was just given money for Christmas so I plan to do that. Other than that, it’s been plastic which he’s been fine with. As soon as I saw the worms (which I didn’t see last night when I checked on him and turned off the tank lights for each of my tanks) I pulled Damocles out and put him in a pets smart betta cup that I keep on hand for things like this (thoroughly cleaned).

That’s just free food
I’m pretty sure they are. They don’t have the shape of planaria and their swimming pattern aligns with all the detritus worms I’ve seen. Even the ones in my own tanks.
