Hello everyone I’ve just added a new addition to my 6 gallon cube(yes it’s been cycled for months and water parameters were perfect before adding)and was just wondering if I could get some opinion on a few things. I purchased him from petco labeled as a white opal male.
That clear tip on his tail, is it something I should be concerned about? I was told it could be healing from old fin damage but would love to know if it is a sign of anything more. Also, I’m not too sure how to determine maturity of a fish works or if it’s even possible but do you think he is on the older side? I’ve only dealt with planted tanks and shrimp so fish keeping is new to me
When it comes to feeding I know they are insectivores so live feeding is best and I have a ton of fruit fly cultures for my reptiles lying around so is it okay to give them some fruit flies here and there? Just for some variety in diet not as a main source

The clear part is just new growth! Pigment is the last to come through!
The best diet is a mix of things. Daphnia, bloodworms, brine shrimp, pellets, etc…are all great! Feeding 1-2 times a day depending on the amount.
Don’t have any tips but he’s beautiful!
