Crappie decoy brought in a 37” female yesterday morning. When I pulled it up I saw it was about to thrash off the spear so I jammed her head up against the side of the hole so I wouldn’t lose her as I unzipped the shelter door. Got the door open, and she wouldn’t let go of the foam floor mat I use on the bottom of my fabric shelter. Had to use the ice scoop to pry her mouth open and wrestle her out the door and on the ice.

Already got a quart of pike caviar from the roe; she’s getting stuffed and roasted this afternoon. Probably get a couple of gallons of fish chowder from the stock & leftovers. Merry Christmas and tight lines (and sharp true spears) to all.
