Betta Fish: My daughter’s first betta

Meet Snowflake (Not very white I know. Lol). My daughter who is six has been asking for a fish since she could talk. I was an avid fish owner for many years prior to having kids but we haven't had any in the last 7 years. I decided for Christmas to buy her a betta. We set up the tank around Halloween cycling it with plants and a few snails. The big day came a few days ago when we went to the store to pick out our new friend. My sweet little girl saw this guy on the end cap at a discount. He was probably the least appealing one there due to his fin rot and color scheme but she felt so much empathy for the little guy she wanted to take him home so "he could be happy like the other fish and get better." I just about cried because as a teenager I used to own a fleet of 5 gallon planted tanks with bettas I would buy that were sick or injured to give them a fighting chance.

The first picture was taken the day we brought him home. Just in the last few days his purple/blue has become more vibrant and he isn't so pale. He is very happy and lively in the aquarium so hopefully his fins start to grow back over time.
