My girlfriend and I decided we wanted to adopt a betta, so we got a ten gallon tank, fully planted it, then began the cycling process (I understand that we probably should have cycled it first, but this is our first tank, we’re still learning). We are using Fluval plant and shrimp substrate, have added plant food into the water, and just added root tabs and a bit of iron today in an effort to help these plants. Some are yellowing, and some are melting. We aren’t sure what else we can do/what we are doing wrong. The water temp is just around 80 degrees fahrenheit, and the tank parameters are attached in the photos. Do let me know if there is any other info. you guys need that would be helpful in aiding our plants. Thanks in advance!!

Where did you get your plants? That’s my first question. Every plant I’ve gotten from petco/petsmart died within a week. What lights are you using? You need an aquarium grown lamp—full spectrum. What plant food and root tabs are you using? What all plants did you get?
Sometimes it just takes time. New aquatic plants usually go through a period of “melting” and lose their old leaves before starting to show new growth.
If you bought them from a shop and they melt away completely and don’t grow back I’d suggest getting them second hand I had better luck that way, also what lights are you using and for how long?
Your nitrates are alil high just saying don’t know if that has anything to do with plants or not. I have two plants got same time from private breeder and all I have is sand as substrate, no co2 nothing and my one plant is taking over and the other that looks like yours did same thing melted and I took it out. Have a betta tank also
