my frd gifted me a betta in a bowl but ik it was too small for him so i bought a 5.3 gallon tank and some plants (stole the wood frm my other frd) but as a student i dont hav any money left for filter. Will my betta be able to live without a filter
i tik heater is not necessary as i live in a very topical place
so can my betta survive or should I save up my food money for a filter??

I think it’s doable if you do water changes often. Lots of plants help keep the water clean, so I recommend it. Good luck!
ps. That’s a REALLY good looking emergency tank
Don’t overspend on the filter. Get a cheap sponge filter. It will work fine. Where do you live? In the US you can get an all in one sponge filter for under $20.
Edit: also you have a decent amount of plants. Your nitrogen may be handled by those as well. You may be able to get away with just a small water change every week or 2
my betta lived in a filterless tank for a year. but we changed water often and had plenty of plants in there. now we moved him to a bigger tank with a filter but he stays away from the bubbles even if the aeration is at a low setting I think he hates it
