I believe this is green hair algae ? it’s litterally taking over my tank, growing on the wood, the plants, even the substrate.

Its a pea puffer tank so im not sure what else can be added since they’re feisty, there is 1 oto in the tank currently but he doesn’t seem to put a dent in it.

I’ve also tried API algae fix but it doesnt seem to make a difference

  1. That algae growth is intense.

You need to remove as much of it by had as you can.

    Do a large water change

And black the tank out for 5-7days

And lastly to do final clean up get some snails/ start very low with light and work up as needed.

Cutting down on symptoms never cures the disease. It’s tough but find out the reason for such algae outbreak, treat the cause.

I had a similar issue ages ago. The steps I took was adding a timer for my lights, weekly water changes to control the nitrates, and finally, daily additions of flourish excel which is basically an algicide (strong stuff so please don’t overdose). Oto cats won’t make a dent in that stuff unless you have a lot of them which would probably add way too much to the bio load. I have some Amano shrimp that help keep things tidy
