I know literally nothing, but I want to tie some rigs that I can just clip on when I get where I’m going. I’m not opposed to buying more things, but if it’s any good, I’d like to use what I have. Also, what is this little hard plastic thing I pointed at?

  1. Honestly you’re pretty limited here save for simply tying on a jig. The spoon plus a soft plastic and jig will work great. It’s honestly what I tend to default to and I still catch plenty of fish.

The one thing I do notice though is that you can easily set up a drop shot using the Mosquito hooks and the curly tails. You do need to pick up weights though. You could try using the ones you have but they look way to heavy for me.

My personal hot take here, but ignore the snap swivels. If you want to learn specific rigs you need to learn how to tie knots. It’s counterproductive.

The floats are fine to use with a hook and live bait, but you don’t really want to use them over a soft plastic since you’re imparting the action itself. You’ll find that the vast majority of set ups will never use them (save for floating for salmon etc).

  2. A Deadly combo for panfish / trout is to put either the soft plastic with a question mark or the small grubs on one of the jig heads with a bobber about 18-24 inches above. Send it out around structure and just give it little jigs every few seconds. You can fish it as fast or slow as you want. Start slow and switch up your retrieval. Tight lines!
