I noticed a lump about 2 weeks ago on her that’s since gotten bigger. She still swims around and wants to eat but I stopped feeding her for now. I’ve added epsom salt to her tank as well and start an all purpose med 5 days ago.

  1. Oof, she’s started to pinecone as well. Some sort of organ failure and severe edema.

I would look into epsom salt dips and just aquarium salt in the tank, and an antibiotic.

Not to be rude or anything but holy shit

Honestly if I was in your situation I would put her down. Definitely something internal happening and it’s usually best to stop any suffering. I honestly couldn’t tell you what is happening exactly, but once a fish starts to pinecone it’s very hard to come back from even if you start treatment as soon as you notice

  3. how is she still alive?

but yeah, you gotta put her down.
i’m sorry, but it’s the best for her.

i would suggest using clove oil (look more into how to) or doing the ol’ hammer to the fish (i can’t stand doing this myself, but it’s a quick and instant death)

  4. Ok, so I had to euthanize my betta on Monday. She was pineconing badly and I bought clove oil, watched a billion videos and got a ton of advice here. I ended up doing blunt force because there was that chance that something would go wrong and she would suffer even more (I’ve read they could struggle up to 20 mins before they pass out). At least with blunt force it was very quick (I had my spouse do it).

From overfeeding/constipation (pellets expand, food gets stuck), causing pressure on the swim bladder, but it can signal serious issues like Dropsy (organ failure from bacterial/parasitic infection, bad water quality,
