Just started surf fishing down here.
First day out caught a Sierra Mackerel, second day out a Puffer Fish, 3rd day out – i went earlier, still dark out. I had ( i believe a snook on). It was dark out and I was having a hard time getting this beast in. I made a mistake and tightened the drag too much and he got off after about 10 minutes.
Also, when I was looking at the new lure I put on, one of the trebles had plastic protectant still on it. My old eyes and putting it on in the dark- i didnt see it. I'm sure that cost me. The other lesson Ive learned – Ive lost 3 lures from these damn Pelicans flying into my line.
Well – this is a lot different than fishing at home but I am loving it!

Nice! Always wanted to try surf fishing there. Did you bring your gear there or do you live there now?
