I have just really gotten started bassfishing and I was curious about jigs. I got a few strike king football jigs and a pack of white curly tail grubs for free. Would a white curly tail work for dragging or hopping that jig? Is the white to different compared to the skirt?

I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. I usually try and match the trailer color pretty close to the skirt but the contrast could be beneficial
A white trailer is a weird choice for a dark jig, and a curly tail is a weird choice for a football head.
Contrast is good. Different colors make the lure visible at different depths. Different lure actions will appeal to the moods fish are in. You could hook a spinner, spoon, or chatter on it, too. With LMB, there are really no limits. If you get their attention and/or annoy them, they will strike.
