He’s probably just gaining coloring tends to happen when bettas are taken out of their pet store cups

I would say yes, normal! His colors are starting to come in the more settled/happier he becomes. What did you name him?

This is normal for when they get out of the cup and grow. But I’m concerned with your setup, what size is this tank? 5 gallon is minimum and they prefer to have resting spots (the leaf you have) very close to the surface so they can breathe from there

I’d do a water test and take out anything plastic and sharp incase he hit his face on something, bettas also tear their fins super easily so just anything soft is great i recommend some live plants. Are you using a heater and filter? It could just be him regaining pigment as well so I wouldn’t panic right away but def get a heater and filter if you don’t have one, bettas like warm tropical waters so too cold and it could be bad for him as well and may even effect his pigment or something worse

cycle your tank. i can tell you didn’t do it because of those small bubbles

That ‘red face’ is fairly common in elegant ear (dumbo) betta. He’s simply coloring up now that he’s not in some crappy tiny ammonia filled cup.

It is normal, he’s just becoming more vibrant because he’s not literally just slowly dying in his small cup
Although, did you cycle your tank? The small bubbles in your tank tells me otherwise, also I wouldn’t reccomend those small coloured plastic crystals, anything plastic is typically a no go

Yes! When bettas are stressed their colors tend to be more dull. But when they are happy their colors brighten up. It just means you’re taking good care of him and he’s happy!
