The hydras in your photo… may habe been introduced with something you collected in a pound. E.g. I sometimes cash live food for my fish,

  2. Hydra.

They’re not really an issue. They feed off the excess microorganisms. Cut back on your feeding a little bit and do regular water changes and they’ll go away/minimize.

Also they do not eat shrimp. I have them with my shrimp and the shrimp are breeding fine.

  3. Hydra thrives in mostly live nutrients in your water column, I can see you have microorganisms floating in the water which is likely their food source. Maybe try a big water change and increase the power of your filter/add some sort of chemical filter media to reduce their numbers. When you see less microorganisms floating, switch to a feed that doesn’t enrich the water with nutrients as fast which is also feeding the Hydra. You can also try “no planaria” a shrimp safe medication which can kill all the Hydra in your tank within an hour. You have options. Definitely not a big worry.

  4. I just want to say:

From personal experience I think hydra are mostly harmless even for shrimp.
