As the title says I got my Betta (named her Scarlet) as an impulse purchase. I originally intended to only buy a tank, substrate and some plants and cycle the tank before buying a fish, but as I was browsing I saw her in a tiny cup amongst other sickly fish, staring at me following me around and I knew I had to buy her. Spent a good hour outside the shop looking up ways to keep a fish in an uncycled tank (found father fish's video on fish in cycling) and figuring out how to budget to get the essentials, now here we are 3 weeks in.
Scarlet has now started changing colors from a pure white to a blueish hue. Plants had a growth spurt and is now peeking out the top.
Water parameters are stable and I'm looking to add more plants and snails in a few days.

Just wanted to thank everyone here, I've just been lurking these past weeks getting advice from other people's post and I'll be honest it was overwhelming at first but knowing that there's an entire community of people helping one another to give our little fish friends the best life they can has been such a reassuring feeling. On behalf of Scarlet Thank you everyone and Happy New Year 🙂
