I got my boy a couple of weeks ago. He already had the red dot on his tail fin when I got him but I’m worried as I’ve noticed more black areas forming on his fins in the last couple of days. I’m not sure if this is normal coloration or if I should be worried. He’s been swimming and eating and curious like normal. Any advice would be helpful. He’s a Delta Tail Male.

Stunning fish
Not totally sure, but my guess would be that he’s going to change color. My betta was marbled white and blue at the store and that changed quickly once he got home and colored up. They can also have jumping genes where their bodies change color.
i get why you’re worried: black spots near their bodies/fins like that sound like the typical telltale of finrot. however, you have a beautiful white betta. i’m not sure what his condition was in the store you gor him, but i’m 99% sure you’ve improved this environment by a hundred times. their colours pop out when they’re comfortable and happy and this is especially visible in white bettas. your boy is absolutely gorgeous, almost makes me regret not getting a white betta (don’t worry, i love mine :)). you should definitely keep an eye on him if you’re wortied still, but to me it just looks like a well cared for, very pretty boy.
