Just when I was done setting up this rack (along with another 20gal and a 40gal tanks), I have to move to a city two hours away.

What I’m gonna do is tear down these tanks, one or two at a time, put livestock in 5-gallon buckets, along with their perspective sponge filters connected to an air pump, and move them through multiple trips. I’ll try to save all the gravel and as much water as I could so I could set up these tanks at my new place just like how they are now. Hopefully, it won’t stress my fishies out too much.

I thought of getting a U-Haul and move all these tanks at the same time but it’s just too physically taxing for me (maybe for my animals too). Heck, it’s actually more expensive than me making 4-5 round trips so this is the best plan I can make.

Anything I should know or do, please let me know. I appreciate whatever advice I can get. 🙏

  1. Should be able to get away with removing the live stock, draining the tanks on move date. Lay wet paper towel over the plants. Saran Wrap the top.

    Everything should be okay.

Remember, the bacteria is on the tank and all of its contents: filter, sand/stone, plants, etc. it is NOT the water.

  3. If it were me i would do all that in one trip, and save a lot of hassle. You should be able to rent a van for a day for around $75.

Drain the tanks down low and pop them out of there one at a time, put some paper towels on any exposed plants and repeat. I wouldn’t even remove the livestock.
