I have 7 male guppies in my 10gal quarantine tank, and today is their third day in the tank. I spotted a dead one just now (the one with my favorite colors, too…) and am struggling to determine the cause of death. I'm reading zero Ammonia, zero Nitrites, and 5ish ppm Nitrates. Temperature is 74°F, and gH is 7.
I fed them yesterday night, and they were all eating well. I see them chasing each other around, and I honestly can't tell if it's playing, fighting, or mating behavior – I've never kept guppies before.
Should I medicate the tank? Do you see any signs of illness I've missed? I have a bad track record for keeping fish alive, and I REALLY don't want this batch of guppies to fail…

Is there no filter here except the sponge with an air line? This tank is just not very good for the wellbeing of your fishes. Look into planted tanks with real substrate and real plants. I promise you your fish will thank you. Its also a lot easier to maintain when plants and bacteria do some of the work for you!
0 ammonia and no nitrates shows it’s cycled and mentioned about your filter.
With the exception of more plants which could provide cover for the fish that may be fighting, I don’t think anything is wrong. It’s likely that the fish that died was just more stressed than the others or not as healthy etc.
Sad fact is sometimes fish die and moving to new tank etc is very stressful for them.
You have done the right thing with the quarantine to ensure no disease etc infecting your main tank.
I don’t think this is your doing tbh. Maybe get more real / fake plants to give more cover for the fish to help the bickering ones break line of sight.
