My concern is how are you fishing not knowing the local fish and game laws? That’s like driving and not knowing the rules of the road. Get a copy of the local laws and there should be a guide to local salt and freshwater species.

Besides if you don’t know some of these fish will get you the bluefish has crazy teeth that bite right through prey. Your finger doesn’t stand a chance!
