First winter fly fishing – Are small nymphs the way to go? Having problems with my eyelets freezing up, any recommendations?

First fish spring creeks or tail waters if possible. After that egg patterns and smaller nymphs work pretty well

Dual nymph rig. 1 small nymph. 1 San Juan worm. Keep medium amount of line out. Try to keep good drifts to keep casts to a minimum. The more line you bring in, the more chance to freeze up the eyelets. Atleast this is my winter strategy. *I’ve absolutely dropped a spool in the river before figuring this out* tight lines and a happy new year!
