I recently got this betta (that I named Fig Newton 🙂 for free from someone in a FB group. He seems happy and healthy overall, but I am wondering if he is on the thinner side? It’s hard for me to tell because of the lumps near his tail which I’ve read can be muscles from fin weight. He has had them since I got him about 2 weeks ok.
I’ve switched his food to Bug Bites from ZooMed betta pellets and he is eating well, but I had to go away for about 8 days and he was only fed once during that time. I’ve been afraid of bloat so have been trying to feed him in small increments.
I also noticed he has some fin damage which I can hopefully heal. He came in a 3 gallon tank but I will be upgrading to a 5 gallon and adding many more plants with new substrate.
Overall just want to make sure his size/shape isn’t worrisome.

I think he does look a touch too thin based on the betta weight chart, I am unable to post it in this comment my apologies but if you look that up you should find it
He looks thin! Why is he that shape?
