I have had this tank up and running for about 3 months. Right now the only thing I have are plants and some scuds and snails that have proliferated after being attached to the plants I bought. Originally I wanted to add some shrimp but now I am rethinking and am heavily considered getting a betta. Other than a heater, is there anything else I need to get for the tank before adding a betta? Any advice is appreciated.

Maybe some more plants with roots or that it can rest on close to surface? It looks great so far!
I see you have a HOB filter with lots of flow so be careful because bettas like slow flowing waters because of their big fins so keep that in mind, other than that it looks great
I am no expert, but I am not sure that table is the best choice for your tank. Hopefully I am wrong though
The entire length of the tank needs to be supported.
Especially with rimless tanks. You’ve got a leak or shatter waiting to happen.
Check to make sure the flow from the filter isn’t too strong
