Daiwa regal lt 2500 reel im using 150 yards of 15lb Suffix 832 braid and it leaves this much of a gap… should i add some backing to it or is it fine… I don’t want it to effect my casting distance, if adding some backing would help than I will. If it’s fine than i’ll leave it

  1. It’ll work as-is, but it is low.

See the chamfered edge at the base of the spool (just above the line capacity)?

Personally, I’d be aiming to get the line to fill the spool as close as I could get it to the silver on the edge while still being able to see a sliver of black.

But spinning reels are pretty forgiving of underspooling and it’ll be fine the way you have it as well.

Hard to tell from your photo, would be better from the side. But any way, I just spooled the same one today as well and did it how the other person here mentioned filling as close to the silver but leaving a tiny space between the black.

  3. It’s fine but you don’t really need the whole 150 yards of braid. I would respool it with backing and half of the line once you get a 2nd reel.
