Betta Fish: Just got this little guy, does he look healthy?
I know I shouldn't have bought from Petco but they look so miserable and I feel so bad

he looks amazing, the little spots of black could be ammonium burns, but i highly doubt it. the rest of his body would be in worse shape if that were the case. i wouldnt surprised if his body takes on some more color. from the looks of your tank im assuming you’re seasoned in fish keeping and that this tank is already cycled?
he does look a little skinny, but side views can be deceiving. do you have a photo from him from above?

Not ammonia burns. His fins would look way worse if that as the case. Many translucent and lighter bettas have black specs
