This is the chart I saw a while ago and find it very useful
Feed him less and he’ll slim down. I’d feed him once a day for a couple weeks and he should slim down. Then, I usually feed my guy twice a day. A betta pellet in morning, and at night same or frozen bloodworms/daphnia/brine shrimp. I do NOT feed an entire cube that is too much food. I usually just take knife and cut a bit of sliver off and that’s good enough.
Sometimes mid-day I’ll feed some treats too like dry daphnia, bloodworms. VERY LITTLE.
Good luck i bet his colors will really start coming through next couple weeks!
I don’t think he’s fat. The swelling seems to be in the lower abdomen.
I’m going to go ahead and say this looks like swim bladder disease early stage.
I would check all of your parameters and ensure that the temperature is correct fast for a few days and see if the swelling goes down.
If that doesn’t help then I would use more aggressive treatments. Definitely give it some time to naturally heal with a fast. As long as your water parameters are in check
