I’m a newbie in aquascaping and fish keeping. How have I done and what are the suggestions to improve. I have a male opal betta and a few ghost shrimps. There are a few pest snails in there as well which hitchhiked from one of those plants.

  1. Overall: 3/10

You need places for him to hide & chill. I’d suggest adding a few medium sized rocks or a piece of driftwood that extends up into the middle of the water column.

As for fish, bettas like to go solo. Your snails & shrimp will also appreciate plenty of places to hide/line of sight breaks.

Edit: read too quickly & didn’t see OP’s note about CUC

get a larger piece of driftwood, attach 2-3 anubias plants to it. he will use the leaves as hammocks to rest on and will have some spots to hide in
