So I have this 5g betta tank in which I have 1 male opal betta and 1 shrimp. He doesn’t seem to be too aggressive. I was wondering if I could add a few tetras like neon or ember. I was open to some suggestions.

Neon tetras are active swimmers and require a larger footprint than is provided by a 5g

Absolutely NOT in this 5g tank, but maybe if you upgrade to a 20g-long tank you could do a community fish tank.

Betta tankmates by tank size:

A 5g is only enough for a single betta with a few shrimp or snails.
5 gallons is too small to house any other fish with a Betta. Plus Tetras are very active swimmers and require a longer footprint
I don’t put tetras in with long finned bettas, because tetras tend to pick on their fins.
There also isn’t enough swimming space in a 5 gallon for tetras.
Maybe add 20-30 more shrimp but no tetras
You can add more shrimp or some small snails (no mystery snails, nerites, etc). That’s it
