Hello! I’m relatively new to owning bettas, I’ve noticed two foreign.. snails? Maybe? I’ve just noticed them today, I added many new plants approximately 2 weeks ago. I know it’s common to find hitchhikers in plants, but what are these? Are they friends or foes? Do I evict and hope for the best if they’re foes?
(5 Gal. cycled tank)
Thanks for any and all help, suggestions are appreciated.

They’re bladder snails. Harmless algae and detritus eaters. The population will rise and fall based on the amount of food available to them so sometimes there will be like 100 and sometimes there will be like 20. They don’t bother me so I ignore them. Some people really don’t like the look of them when the population has a boom- this is when you see people talking about them taking over the tank or being invasive. It’s purely aesthetic as they don’t actually do anything negative. Feel free to remove them if you think you won’t like them, but honestly there are probably babies or eggs elsewhere in the tank. Once you have them, you tend to just need to learn to accept them since they’re very resilient and prolific.
