Found this GORGEOUS dragon scale koi male at my local mom and pop pet store. I grew up always having bettas and messing around with different size tanks but took a break for a few years. After I saw him I fell in love and I genuinely miss having a betta tank in my room.
Do you think he looks healthy? I only have one picture and his fin was a little bent on the top. Should I start up a betta tank again? It was just therapeutic for me and I really miss it but don't want to go crazy and spend a lot on setting a new one up. I used to impulse buy a lot of things. I also want to add some pigmy Cory cats but didn't know if they would be too small with a betta or compatible.

Unless you currently have a fully cycled tank ready to go you should not buy any fish right now.
Bettas are super fun! I absolutely recommend looking into their care! I recommend a 10 gallon tank with filter and heater plus plenty of live plants. If you need help with cyclying the tank turbo start works great! However I will say that the start up will be expensive and you should absolutely do research on bettas so you don’t get in trouble down the line.
maybe a hot take but: i don’t think it’s necessary to cycle a tank beforehand if you’re getting a betta. an uncycled 10 gallon is infinitely better than the stagnant tiny cup or bowl most fish stores sell/keep them in. you can easily do a fish-in cycle in say a 10 gallon with a betta as your only fish
