I’ve had a community tank with a shoal of pencil fish for 3 years, and it’s gone through a couple of generations now. I started with 6 fish and now it’s at 20+. The problem is I’m noticing birth defects (minor spinal lordosis) and wondering if I should just pull the plug before things get worse. Thanks!

You may notice some issues but generally it takes a while for significant problems to arise. I would just cull the struggling ones.
