Hey guys, so a little while back I used some HR points from my work to pick up a fly combo, it's this rod and reel. It came spooled and ready to go. I'm just learning having not fly fished in decades so at the moment I'm having fun with it. But I'm not really familiar with fly fishing gear, so I'm wondering where this thing stands. Obviously it's not a hundreds of dollars for just the rod setup… But I just want to make sure I'm not handicapping myself using a rod that isn't up to par or something. Mainly concerned with it's ability to cast, as I'm not sure if I'm the bottleneck or the rod would be etc.

  1. I have a White River 7wt that I’ve used for bass and carp and it has held up for over a decade now.

Don’t have to have the top brands to catch big fish…… and it’s always nice to have different fly rod options. It’ll do you just fine
