Doing some Machaca fishing in El Salvador. These were caught on fruit flies and gamechangers on the Rio Lempe. They’re super fun fish, very similar to smallmouth bass but with a hint of adhd. The technique is to slap your fruit fly(fig imitation) as hard as you possibly can and as close to the bank as possible to imitate a fig falling from the tree. The first few were actually on the swing. I highly recommend machaca for anyone who’s into jungle fishing. Not pictured from this trip are 4 Mayan grouper, a massive 4ft saltwater catfish, 2 Spanish mackerel, and a single red snapper(not posting because they weren’t caught on a fly). Going out on the panga tomorrow to target skipjack tuna on the fly.
