Hi there,
Only rules are not in the US, not for brown trout (i've done that for now) and somewhat safeish country.
I've obviously already gotten a couple of ideas, namely bone fish+ in the bahamas, taimen in Japan, Seychelles (I'm too cheap for that).
I've done my first casts in salt water 10 days ago and it was really cool to feel like a beginner once again and it made me really want to try out new stuff, new species, new environments.
Love to hear your ideas / experiences

Depends on a thousand things – budget, travel time, casting ability, sighting ability, desire for diversity vs one prime species, boat v wade, etc…
A few ideas – cuba, Christmas Island, loreto/la Paz, Belize, Hawai’i…
The ocean is a big place 😁 anything in particular you want?
Grayling and taimen in mongolia.
Carp fishing in SE Asia
Steelhead in Kamchatka
Tigerfish on the zambezi
Christmas Island is probably the best bang for your buck non-US saltwater trip for beginners. The food sucks, but there are tons of fish there and great diversity of species.
Mexico and Belize are both good options as well, and travel is generally pretty easy.
Cuba is arguably my favorite place I’ve been, but I don’t know if I would go there right now if you’re from the US.
If you’re looking for information, I recommend checking out Yellowdog or one of the other destination travel sites. They are usually pretty great to work with and can help you figure out where you want to go.
DIY, guided, or a mix?
