My first fish of the new year, I had never thrown my bladed jigs for trout for some reason and decided to try it out. I went to hit my favorite spot and discovered that it was now posted no trespassing. A huge bummer and a serious loss but I stopped at this random small creek on the side of the interstate on the way home and ended up hammering some little bonneville cutthroat, can't wait to get back after it! Also fished were netted, quickly lifted out of the water with wet hands for a single quick pick, put back in the net, unhooked, and released.

  1. Beautiful fish, bummer about your favorite spot for sure. I can’t say I’ve ever caught trout on a bladed jig but I’m not too surprised that those downsized ones worked for you.

Chatterbait, in a stream, for trout?? Well the one thing about fishing is you’ll always see some new no matter how long you’re doing it. That’s wild for sure!

Hell yeah brother, some of my favorite fish and looks like they were happy to oblige you. Sucks that Utah is being privatized so rapidly, #keeputahwild. Can’t wait to get back up there this spring and visit my favorite streams

  4. Yep, I’ve seen a few people now using chatterbaits for trout. I’ve bought the stuff to make my own now.

Chatterbait trout fishin… that I have not seen before! I personally always target trout with bass lures but haven’t tried the bladed jigs yet. It’s hilarious to fish near fly guys and have em staring at me and my 4” swimbaits or 6” ripbaits while they bounce midges or whatever. Trout have teeth for a reason boys & girls…

  6. Beautiful fish! Is this southern Utah? I frequent there but struggle to find good places to catch bonnevilles.
