Hi guys! I'm from southern Pennsylvania and have never been ice fishing before. I was looking at the weather and, barring one day that hits 33 F, the weather is below freezing for a good while. I wanted to go ice fishing on Thursday February 5th. Do you think that the ice on my local lakes (290 acres and 220 acres respectively) will be thick enough to fish? Our area generally hovers around freezing temp but these past two days went up to like 50 and 40 F respectively. I know I'd have to check myself to be sure, but just so I can get an idea…

If your lakes have a bit of ice, you can actually do some rough math to determine how much ice will be made. Google lake ice growth equation.
Most importantly, too your point, you should really check yourself.
