I’m traveling soon and want to take a couple rods on the plane with me. Do you guys have any recommendations for good rod tubes that carry multiple rods?

  1. I have a TFO dual rod/reel carrier for when I take 2 setups. I have an Allen Cottonwood case I got on clearance for multi rod adventures. Both are good at what they do and I have carried both on domestic flights.

  2. Fishpond Dakota rod/reel case. I have one for single handed rods and one for Spey rods. They’re great.

  3. I’ve carried my reddington combo in its case on multiple flights without issue. SLC is where I fly out of.

I have the Fishpond thunderhead double case, which I have used as carry-on for both domestic and international flights, without issue.

Orvis Carry it All is excellent, I carry 4 rods, reels, extra spools and other assorted stuff depending on destination. Never had a single issue carrying on EXCEPT on domestic flights in South America—they will make you check it. They also seem to consider any kind of line, tippet, string-like-substance as a deadly weapon.

  6. I listed a carry on travel case on r/flyfishingexchange awhile back. Still available if interested.
