My dad owns a ton of fishing gear, spinning combos, and tackle. And now that I've started getting into fishing ive been wondering whether or not his gear is genuinely good or just a stubborn dad's opinion on whether something is good or not.

I can’t tell what rod that is but the Nasci is a good reel.
Who cares dude? If it catches fish, it’s great.
You have to put some respect in the Nasci name. My 5000 size Nasci is more than capable.
Nasci reel is super nice. If he put it together I would assume the rod is as well but I can’t tell what rod that is.

Very good reel, does the job nicely. Next step up would be an ultegra, then to twin power, then to Stella.
I find the ultegra is the upgrade I’m most happy with vs $$
Just go fishing. Having fun is what matters. If you saw the tackle, we were using 50 years ago you would laugh and yet we caught tens of thousands of bass and steelhead and everything else on them.
Why the handle sucks?
I have a cheap reel i was gifted 15 years ago and god knows how old it was when i was given it. it’s still going today and my 5 year old now uses it. Don’t get hung up on gear, decent-ish gear with last a life time if looked after.
