hit the surf at dawn this morning. slow start throwing a morf grub on c-rig looking for the holes picking up as sun came up. faster retrieve speed with a few jerks thrown in led to a bit more action. mostly medium size bsp’s with a few footlongs. lots of hooks ending up deep in the mouth even with a size 1. all safely released.

Nice photo! I stopped using my spinning reels and only throw baitcasters in the surf right now. I have an iRod 804 with a Tranx 300 but I feel it’s a little much for the surf. I want to use a Tranx 200 but I’m undecided on what rod I should pair with it. I’m curious what you have going on with your set up.
thanks man. setup is a tranx 200 on a shikari 1004. I’ve always preferred baitcasters, feel like I have more control placing the lure/bait, can slow/stop the spool and drop it where I want while mid air. also notice less braid twist. and I like the low profile being able to palm the reel. distance wise, maybe I get a few extra feet on spinning but not really noticeable to me. even hard baits I get it far enough.
I dig the black and white photo.
